Boston Days and Sleepless Nights

So, like many other fans, I’d been counting down the days to the Days Charity Event in Boston, which took place this past Saturday at the Sheraton Colonial Boston North Hotel, for a long time. I had been tweeting with people and making plans to meet one another. I had only met one of them, Carrie, from the event in Los Angeles, but I felt like I knew the others because of our constant chattering online. Needless to say, I was excited to meet all of them, along with the stars who attended.DCE Boston

Finally, the time was upon us!

On Friday night, I met a bunch of other fans in the hotel bar. We moved between there and the lounge. It became pretty wild, but was so much fun! It was great to meet so many other fans – especially when you spend most of your days explaining to everyone why you spend so much time focusing on a soap opera. The madness had officially begun.

Saturday morning kicked off with the Q&A session where fans are able to ask the actor(s) of their choice any questions they like. In attendance were Molly Burnett, Casey Deidrick, James Scott, Mark Hapka, Louise Sorel, Wally Kurth and Crystal Chappell. Unfortunately, Joe Mascolo was unable to make the event.

Everyone on Stage

One of my favorite of the questions was when they were asked what their favorite screw-up was. Molly said she’s always walking into things on set – something which I feel we have in common as less than two hours later I smashed my head into a doorframe. Okay, that’s outside of the story. Crystal said that she gets confused whenever she has props, so Carly needs to have a simple setup with only one prop so it didn’t mess her up. Casey told us that he once parked in Joe Mascolo’s parking spot on a day when he wasn’t working. He was on set to drop something off for Molly and he found himself blocked in to the spot by Joe’s car. He said there was a big throw down – which was featured at the end of the Dance-Off video they created.Molly and Casey on stage

Another fun question was when they were asked which storyline they’d like to see for their character. Wally said it’d be nice just to see his character have a storyline, which Casey seconded for Chad. James said he’d like for EJ to have a real job again because he enjoyed the working scenes. Crystal said she’d like for Vivian to be her mother – which Louise laughed at and asked if they could be sisters instead. When it got around to Molly, she said she’d like those scenes with ‘Grandma Vivian’, then corrected herself by referring to her as ‘Hot Aunty Vivian’. Mark said he’d like for Nathan to stop being the good boy all of the time and have a bit of an edge, like being drunk under the knife or popping pills.Mark and Casey on stage

The day was so chaotic that I barely remember the rest of the Q&A until we got to the auctions. Each actor auctioned off their DCE t-shirt. James, Mark and Casey all went out in the audience to sit next to the highest bidder and increase bids. The average bid ended up being about $500 for each shirt, give or take. I actually decided to bid on Casey’s shirt – okay, I also bid a little on Molly’s shirt, but my competitive streak hadn’t kicked in yet, which is kind of sad. I kind of wish it had. Anyway, basically it was a war between me and this one other lady across the room. I kept almost winning and at the last second she’d cut me off. The people behind me were even offering to help cover the cost, but I felt bad taking their money! Incredibly nice of them, though! Actually it got to the point where they’d ask if anyone would bid higher and I’d just cringe and say ‘Okay…’ which they found funny. Sadly it got too rich for my blood. I’m a university student – I couldn’t afford to bid $1000, so I dropped out. Still, I feel better knowing I made someone else spend that much – is that evil? I’m sorry, my competitive side is still upset by losing. Casey was great about it though. I told him I wished I could’ve bid higher and he just said he was sorry I didn’t get the shirt.Louise auctions off her shirt

Crystal’s shirt was the highest seller, though. She also added that she would write the winner into an episode of Venice and later added a kiss into the mix. I don’t remember exactly what it went for, but the bids went very high, very fast! Hers sold for over $3000 (which honestly didn’t shock me).

CC auctions off her shirt

We had a break in between events, where I hung out a bit with my friends and met a couple more who had just arrived. We all went upstairs and had lunch in two of their rooms (adjoining rooms). I can’t explain how fun it is to hang out and chat with the CarBos.

We were in line for a long time at the Meet and Greet, but I’d say it was most definitely worth the wait. The first one I met there was James Scott. I didn’t get to talk much with him, but let me just say, he looked really good. He’s always so nice. EJ isn’t always my favorite character, but James is a great guy and I loved meeting him.James and Me

Next up was Louise Sorel. It was confusing because her line seemed to be separate from the line for everyone else. I broke off and had my friend save my place in line while I saw Louise. Can I just say – I have never met an actress more different from her character! She was so incredibly kind and really funny! I told her that my father and I are big fans of Vivian. We used the news of her impending return to cheer him up while my grandmother was dying. It didn’t do the whole trip, obviously, but I think it helped a bit, at least. She also asked about the blue in my hair and pointed out that Lauren Koslow has the same thing – which I knew because I stole the idea from her. She asked what it stood for and I told her I’d read online that it was a tribute to Adam Lambert. She said she’d always thought it had to do with David Bowie because Lauren is a fan of his. I’m not sure exactly which is true now, but I’m pretty sure she said in an interview it was because of Adam – I’ll have to look into that. Anyway, I got a hug from her and a picture, which made me incredibly happy. How can anyone not love Louise Sorel? Even with how evil her character is, she’s such a lovely woman that you can’t help but want to be around her. Actually, the same goes for pretty much the whole cast.Louise Sorel and me

While I was waiting to talk to Crystal Chappell, one of my friends tapped me on the shoulder and said, ‘Molly is calling you!’ I was so confused, but I looked up and Molly Burnett was calling ‘Vala!’ and waving. I guess she remembered me from LA and the twitter world! I smiled and waved back. Totally cool!

Crystal was so amazing in person – which I’m sure any good CC fan could tell you. Basically the first thing she said to me is that I have gorgeous eyes. If that isn’t the pot calling the kettle black, I don’t know what is. I’m so flattered by that comment! I told her about WHR and then added that I wanted her to know, even though she’d probably heard it a thousand times, Otalia changed my life. She gave me a big hug then we posed for the picture. I can’t tell you how kind and genuine she is! Seriously, this cast blows me away.Me and CC

After a confusing line-up mess that had developed around Crystal, I finally made my way over to Mark Hapka. Shockingly, not only did he remember who I am, he remembered what we talked about in Los Angeles. He asked where my parents were this time and I said they finally agreed to let me travel on my own (okay, I’ve travelled on my own before, but never to a city where I’m not staying with family or been allowed out of the hotel!). Then he asked if they ever admitted that I am named after Stephanie Johnson, to which I replied that my dad said I was actually named after Stefano DiMera. That made him laugh.Mark Hapka and Me

Then came Molly. All I can say about her is she’s so happy and kind that you can’t help but smile. She also only ever calls me Vala – which I don’t mind. I’m used to everyone calling me variations of my twitter name in person. I actually like it better than my real name, so it works. Casey finished up with the person in front of me, so I was talking with both of them. I gave them both a 4-pack of Canadian Smarties. I found out recently that Smarties are different in the USA than they are in most of the rest of the world. I told them that and added that these ones have chocolate inside. They seemed pretty excited about that, so I hope they like them! Casey said he was sorry I didn’t get the t-shirt I was bidding for and I said it was okay because I brought my own. I showed them my Team Chelanie t-shirt, which they loved. Casey attempted to try it on, but it didn’t work very well. It’s very small and not very stretchy! He couldn’t get it past his biceps! It was funny though. They told me to hop up on the table and we took a picture with it. They signed the front later.Molly, Casey and me with the shirt

Finally, I got up to see Wally Kurth. We were a tad rushed, so I didn’t get to talk to him much, until I was taking someone’s photo with him later. He was trying to take the Smarties I’d given Casey and was asking what they were, so I told him. Casey also scolded him a little about touching his candy.Me and Wally

Between the Meet and Greet and the Cocktail Party, I ran out to Target with a few of my friends. I picked up a hair straightener, since apparently I’d forgotten to pack mine. I had straightened my hair that morning with a curling iron, which was difficult and only barely worked. Thankfully I got one, so I felt better about the party that night!Friends

At the party, I hung out with a ton of my friends. Megan, Sara and I took off and went to see Molly and Casey when they came in. We all wanted more pictures with them. I decided that every actor I spoke to, I’d ask for a silly-faced photo. Casey was the first and I promised him I’d use the picture as my avi on twitter – which I did once I got home. I love how it turned out, actually. I was also Meg and Sara’s photographer for most of the evening.Me and Casey

We then took pictures and talked with Molly for awhile. She told me she loves the blue in my hair and asked if it was real. She seemed surprised when I told her it wasn’t, but they hooked it in so tight that it would last at least four weeks. Next time I plan on dying it though, because it’s easier and more comfortable. She said she always wanted to get blue in her own hair, but the producers wouldn’t allow it. We also told her how much we love her mom because she’s always been so nice to Molly’s fans. I said it was nice because without me even saying anything to her, Molly’s mom tweeted me to say she hoped my dad’s surgery went well and that her thoughts were with him. Molly then asked about my dad, so I told her but added he has good odds, which is good at least.Molly and Me

Next off, we went to see Crystal. As we expected, she had pretty much been swarmed since entering the room. We waited a long time before finally talking to her. Just before we got our pictures, though, she was pulled away to do an auction. During that time I exchanged a couple words with Louise Sorel – whom sadly I didn’t get a picture with before she had to leave the event. We went back to wait for CC again and finally got our pictures. I guess some people must not do weird faces when they ask the actor for pics like that because she’s not the first to ask if I’d be doing it with her (which I was). Anyway, I got the pic and I think it turned out quite well!CC and Me

It was then that we went to see Mark Hapka. He told me I should bid on the auction they were doing – which I could barely hear – and I agreed since the bids weren’t too high and it was for a brunch with them tomorrow. Sadly, by the time I found the auctioneer, he’d just said ‘Sold’ and I missed out. Still, I got a wicked photo with Mark.Hapka and me

We hopped off to talk to Molly and Casey again. Meg and Sara had something to tell them and I wanted them to sign a photo for my best friend for her birthday. We also ran into Carrie and Matthew there, so the group of us were just chatting for awhile while we waited. Molly was on her phone, trying to get a video connection with her dad, so she could show him what was going on. Meanwhile, Casey signed the picture. Mark came over and saw the pic of Molly and Casey and joked, ‘Do you want me to sign that?’ I told him Tina’s a big fan of Nathan, so if he wanted to, that’d be great. He asked me if he could write on Casey, then changed his mind and asked if he could draw himself in. I told him to go for it. Instead, he posed while Casey drew his profile, which seemed to look angrily at Molly and Casey. Actually, the drawing was quite good! Mark signed beneath it.Casey draws Mark

Molly established a video connection and had us all wave to her dad. When her mom came over to see her, she had us all wave again, then introduced her to Meg and Sara, then to me. She hung up, but before we could talk to her, she and Casey were pulled off to do interviews.

I waited outside with McKenzieLyn to ask Molly and Casey for an interview, as I’d obtained permission to do so. They were pretty much swarmed again as soon as they came out of the restricted area. I stood back and waited, but Molly saw me and called out, ‘Vala, what are you doing hovering over there! Get over here!’ So while she posed for a photo with Casey and another fan, I hopped over. I stood beside the beam they were next to and she poked her head around and pulled me over. I realized that they thought I wanted a picture so I joked I should give someone my camera. They laughed and said, ‘Oh, she didn’t want a photo!’ I told them that I would obviously never turn down a picture with them. They asked what it was I did want and I told them I was wondering if they’d be up for doing an interview. They agreed and said they would love to. We then took a couple of pictures and right after, they were ushered back into the ballroom.Me, Molly and Casey

I realized I also still needed Molly to sign the photo for Tina. When I got to the front, I joked that she must be getting sick of me. She signed the picture and when I mentioned that Tina’s dad wasn’t happy about her soap addiction, Molly asked why not. I told her he thinks they’re a waste of time – which is obviously untrue – and didn’t like her watching them. She asked his name and added at the bottom a little note for him, saying, ‘Dear Amir, Soaps are not a waste of time. xo Molly’. She laughed that she was going to get in trouble for that and I remarked that if anything, I’d be the one to get in trouble.Molly, Mark and Casey autographs

By that time, the party was winding down a bit. I found a few seats and chatted with Meg and Sara, as well as some of our other friends who came and went. It never ceases to amaze me how people you’ve never seen in person can seem like such old friends when you finally do meet!

Just before the event ended, Molly, Casey and Mark were posing for pictures. Molly and Mark were posing while Casey left to take photos with James Scott. When Casey got back, he and Mark posed for some Chathan (Chad and Nathan). They were in an embrace, but Mark went to kiss Casey, whose hand flew straight to his mouth. He exclaimed he was sure he saw tongue. It was pretty hilarious!

Once the party was over, I met the adorable couple – even cuter in person than you’d expect – outside for the interview. I’ll be posting the interview with Molly Burnett and Casey Deidrick in an upcoming report!Molly and Casey

At this point, I headed back to my room to relax. I was just on a brief call when I got a DM from Carrie telling me there was a CarBo gathering going on two floors up and to get up there. Well, obviously I did just that! I don’t think I can exactly explain just how wild CarBos are to be around. It’s such a fun group. I loved laughing and chatting with everyone. When that was done, and everyone had filtered out, five of us met up in another friend’s room. We all stayed there laughing and chatting until one had left for the airport and two were practically passed out. Left awake among us was just me and my fellow CarBo, Liz. Her and I headed outside for a bit and sat in the bench across from the lobby doors. Here we stayed until the sun was shining and we’d seen a ton of people leave for the airport in the wee hours. At one point, Molly walked by, talking on her phone. Liz said (a little more loudly than intended) that we should yell ‘We love you Molly!’ She totally heard us and waved at us. It was slightly embarrassing, but more hilarious. It was almost seven in the morning and we were still talking loudly, sitting outside in our cocktail dresses. Maybe it’s just me that finds that to be an amusing image, though.

Well, alas, the day came to an end and I had to say goodbye to Liz. I crawled into bed for a refreshing one and a half hours of sleep before getting up and going the next morning. The shocking part was that I was more awake than I’d ever been. I think there’s something to this Twinkie and chocolate diet I obtained while here in Boston. Okay, that was totally off-topic, but I thought I’d add it in as an FYI for anyone travelling! Also, check out what I found the next day!The Salem Inn

Anyway, this weekend was fully made of amazing and I still don’t think I’ve recovered yet! I hope everyone out there gets the chance to meet these stars some day because believe me, they’re some of the kindest you’ll ever meet. To all my twitter friends, new and old, whom I met in Boston – Team D and the CarBos, my Chelanie buds, and everyone else – thanks for being so awesome and making this experience even that much more awesome! I miss you all already and can’t wait to see you at future events!Boston Collage

Five Decades of Mastery by Artist and Charity Diva Louise Sorel

Welcome Louise Sorel and Days Charity Events Fans!

Click to visit Days of Our Lives on NBC!Here at WHR we begin a news analysis series about the stars of daytime drama beginning with one our our favorite series, Days of Our Lives. wherein each star have each have dedicated a portion of their careers to charity!

Over time we will offer perspective and insight into all the series actresses anClick to visit Louise Sorel on IMDB!d actors. Because of the huge ensemble cast, and in order to do adequate justice to each talent on the series, we shall reveal our thoughts about the actors and the roles they portray one at a time.

We shall start with one of the television industries longest lived episodic series stars, the very talented actress Louise Sorel. As all readers are aware (or should be) Louise Sorel plays one of the most ultimate bad girls in television history, Vivian Alamain, now known as Vivian Alamain Kiriakis.

Louise Sorel returnedLike Sands of an Hourglass so are the Days! to Days of Our Lives in 2009 after a multi-year hiatus when the role of Vivian was played by another actress after her brief departure from the series in 1993.

Since her return to reprise her role yet again on Days of Our Lives, Louise Sorel, as the evil Vivian Alamain Kiriakis, has invigorated the character with more dastardly schemes and committed more crimes than a dog has fleas!

In the beginning of her run as Vivian, Louise Sorel made virtual daytime drama history in the early days of the character for burying Carly Manning alive! In the epic sequence, after doping Carly with morphine for goodness sakes, Vivian was hopped up on a virulent herbal remedy! Some remedy that turned out to be!

Many were disappointed when Louise was replaced in the series, but virtually everyone rejoiced when Louise Sorel returned not once, but for a total of five times to reveal her wonderful insight to the wickedness that is Vivian!

Well almost everyone rejoiced, except that is the poor citizens of Salem whom Vivian continues to torment exquisitely to this very day!

Of Ms. Sorel’s some 106 appearances in Days of Our Lives since her 1992 debut as Vivian, the vast majority (~80) have occurred since her return to the series in late 2009. This fact is much to the delight of the fans and to the horror of the greater population of Salem at large! It goes without saying that Louise Sorel in her portrayal of Vivian, is one of the most gifted method actresses John Aniston as the eloquently evil Victor Kiriakis!in the history of entertainment. This is evidenced by her skillful performances which are testimony for all  to witness beyond any doubt.

A bit of back story on Vivian the character before we delve into her current single handed crime wave! Originally married to Victor Kiriakis in the 1992 for business reasons, Victor divorces her for Kate Roberts. Vivian of course vows revenge. After a series of attempts to kill both Carly Manning and ruin Kate Roberts Kiriakas marriage to Victor, Vivian is remanded to custody in the Pine Haven Sanitarium for the criminally insane for the live burial sequence mentioned above.

When released Vivian sets out to get even with Carly Manning for the stabbing death of Lawrence Alamain, her nephew. But first lets review another shocking scene while Lawrence is still alive in 1992. After Lawrence has been kidnapped, Vivian blithely enters the scene of the crime at the mansion, shoots the character holding Lawrence hostage, and simply steps over the lifeless body to hug Lawrence as if such shootings are the most natural thing in the world! This classic scene sets the tone for all that is to come over the next 18 episodic years of Vivian in Days of Our Lives!

Conversely Vivian, in order to ultimately gain custody of a child to re-secure her relationship with Victor, succeeds in stealing Kate and Victors fertilized egg in order to carry the child for Kate who can no longer have children. Vivian subsequently gives birth to the child. This child is Phillip Kiriakis whom is then subject of a protracted legal battle for custody which Vivian will certainly never forget. The entire sequence is setting the stage for even more revenge and retribution, at least in the way Vivian understands the terms. And for your own good we hope you have internalized Kenneth Johnson as Phillip Kiriakishow Vivian thinks about such matters or be prepared to suffer the consequences!

Vivian loses control of Titan Corporation when the ownership is given in a battle to another. Seeking solace, Vivian takes off on a fling with a new lover and confidant, Ivan, a person who has won large sums of monies for a tour around the world. It would seem at this point that Louise Sorel is gone from the series forever, much to the dismay of her devoted fans.

Now before continuing with more recent “Vivian” created criminal capers in Days of Our Lives, fans of Louise Sorel should realize that her acting career spans some 48 years since her debut in 1962 as a young woman. Louise has played both the good and bad girl over and over again so well in action, drama, science fiction and western series for nearly five decades that I will only be able mention a few of her many accomplishments.

Prior to Days of Our Lives, Louise Sorel played Augusta Lockridge Wainwright, in the long lived drama series Santa Barbara (1984 to 1991) in which she was featured in over 170 episodes and returned to the show on three separate occasions during it successful seven year run much like her multiple re-appearances on Days of Our Lives.

Louise acted In her first television hit series “Route 66” in 1963. After her 1962 television debut in the Naked City, Louise followed with Bonanza, The Fugitive (1965), as Rayna in Star Trek The Original Series (1968 aired 1969), Hawaii Five-O (1973), Magnum P.I. (1982), and in Santa Barbara before starring in Days of Our Lives (1992) in a role which echoes to the twenty-first century in our current times! For those interested, study the career of this unique actress and observe for yourselves “Vivian” preparing for her eventual return to Days!

So fear not Louise Sorel fans, Vivian was destined to return to Salem in the fall of 2009! Naturally Vivian will protect Phillip, An immortal triangle, family Kiriakis!but is seeking revenge and as usual does a brilliant job in her portrayal of an evil scheming woman out for getting even with any and all in her way! Louise Sorel is so wonderfully evil as Vivian, simply think of it as white on rice, the two are inseparable just like as if in real life!

In a near surreal sequence, Vivian schemes of marriage to one of Salem’s leading citizens, Victor Kiriakis, and she succeeds as only Vivian could. When we say Victor is a leading citizen, it is true. Victor is actually the head of a criminal syndicate that he leads.  And so we ask, whom could be a more perfect match for Vivian? No one! Days of Our Lives - Vivian and Phillip Kiriakis!

Vivian has committed contemporary crimes that are replete with revenge on Carly Manning’s daughter Melanie in attempted murder with a poisoned hair piece during her wedding to Phillip (the son she carried), trapping and then whacking Carly manning with a metal pipe, bribing ever more henchmen, attempting, but failing to smother Melanie Layton (Manning) while she recuperated in Salem hospital, convincing Victor with lord knows what lies to back off, and of course a few casual crimes are required to inflict evermore harm on Salem with focus on one of her most lingering obsessions, and yet never ending target, Carly Manning!

Where and when will the wickedness of Vivian end? WHR suggests that you do not hold your breath or you will undoubtedly turn blue. Vivian Alamain Kiriakis is loose in Salem and for that matter the world! Lord help us all!

Normally I end with best regards, but with one of the worlds most famous female criminals in the mix, I dare not conclude with such a cordial salutation! Lock your homes and pray for your own salvation, Vivian is loose and may very well knock down the very door to your home!

Chloe Lane: From Ghoul Girl to Darling Diva

Nadia BjorlinWhen I started watching Days of Our Lives, Chloe Lane wasn’t appearing much on the show. I saw her only as Nicole’s competition for Brady and, being the Bricole fan I was, immediately decided to hate the character. But that was seven years ago. Since then Nadia Bjorlin has definitely won me over. Chloe is now one of my favorite characters by far and I’m still at a loss to figure out how I didn’t love her from the beginning. I’m beyond glad I’ve corrected that wrong! This article is my way of atoning for that mistake – by providing a tribute to the character of Chloe Lane, as well as her portrayer, Nadia Bjorlin.

Chloe

Nadia Bjorlin debuted on Days in 1999. For the first fifteen years of her life, Chloe Lane believed she was an orphan. Having been told her parents died in a car accident, she moved between foster homes until she was offered a place in the home of Nancy Wesley, whom she learned was her biological mother. She accepted the offer to move to Salem and even agreed to the request that Craig not be told who she really was. She was instead referred to as being the ‘daughter of a friend’. Her relationship with Craig was a shaky one, since she had to constantly lie to him.Chloe and her parents

One night, after overhearing an argument between Nancy and Craig, Chloe stole money from her mother and decided to run away. She continued with her plan, even after seeing Nancy being hit by a truck. However, once she learned her mother was in a coma, she decided to return, so she would be there when she woke up. It was actually Chloe’s singing which ended up waking Nancy.

Chloe being teasedAs though dressing in all black all the time and wearing glasses wasn’t bad enough for her reputation, Chloe was highly defensive in nature. Her nerves and tendency to be high-strung caused her to appear cold and condescending to her classmates. She thus became the victim of intense bullying and was unaffectionately known as ‘Ghoul Girl’ throughout the school. It got to the point where dead chickens were actually being left on her doorstep.

Finally, Belle Black and Shawn D. Brady took pity on her and befriended Chloe. Eventually she became close with Philip Kiriakis, and he was the one to follow her to the docks after she sang an aria for Shawn’s birthday. Things were looking up for Ghoul Girl.Nancy, Chloe and Craig

Of course, when have things ever stayed pleasant for a character on Days of Our Lives? Everything came crashing down when Nancy’s father (Dr. Albert Miller) came to Salem. He realized who she truly was, and she was tempted to leave town with him. Instead, she revealed the truth to Belle, and decided to stay in town. She walked in on Nancy telling Craig the truth about Chloe. Although Craig left briefly, he later came back and accepted her.

At the same time, Chloe was becoming closer and closer with Philip. Although she saved his life, it was actually her appearance at Philip and Chloe at the Last Blast Dancethe Last Blast Dance which blew him away. Dressed uncharacteristically in a red sheath, he was mesmerized by her. In a Carrie-esque scenario, a bucket of chicken’s blood was supposed to be dropped on her head during the dance. Shawn pushed her out of the way and Philip took the dunking for her. They nearly kissed, but were interrupted by Nancy. She vowed to get revenge when he later broke a date with her, not realizing that he was just preoccupied trying to get his parents back together.

Chloe and Nancy

When Mimi’s father lost his job, the Lockharts found themselves homeless and the teens of Salem set up a Habitat for Humanity type of thing. Trying to improvetheir public image, the Wesleys agreed to take them in. Chloe, however, was not at all thrilled about this decision and embarked on a campaign to get them out of her house. It didn’t help at all that during the same time, her relationship with her mother was deteriorating rapidly.

Chloe and PhilipSoon after, Chloe and Philip shared their first kiss, but it was tainted by the discovery that the only reason he had asked her to the Last Blast Dance was that he’d lost a bet to Shawn. While trying to run away from everything, Chloe ran into Brady Black on the pier, and the two began exchanging quips about each other, and he mentioned that her singing had no passion to it. On Halloween, they saw each other again, while Brady was dressed as Zorro. They continued their verbal sparring, but by then she was officially dating Philip.

Philip and ChloeThe couple nearly became intimate with one another while at the stables, but were interrupted by Victor, who, at the time, was thought to be dead. She was angry and took off in a fury, not giving Philip a chance to explain why he had lied to her. Craig and Nancy later found her and she toldChloe at the hospitalthem he had raped her. She took back her statement after Craig punched Philip, but her mother didn’t believe her until she’d been formally examined. She leaned on Belle for support as she had the exam done and was horribly embarrassed by the whole experience. (Who could blame her, really?) She justified her lies about Philip by saying he shouldn’t have lied to her.

Eventually she and Philip got back together, but at the next Last Blast Dance, Jan and Mimi posted OperaGirl.net photos, which revealed Chloe in the shower, Philip turned on her. He called her horrible Chloe and Jannames and freaked out at her in front of everyone there. Later, he tried to get back together with her, but she refused. She then skipped her class trip to Puerto Rico and begun to hang out more with Brady. They spent a lot of their time singing together, and working on incorporating emotion into her voice. When Philip learned she was spending so much time with Belle’s brother, he began attacking her verbally, but she still made excuses for him because she had lingering feelings for him.

Chloe began to fall in love with Brady and he with her, but she was still torn between him and Philip. Just as things were starting to get back to normal between her and Philip, she began experiencing health problems. Soon after, she was diagnosed with leukaemia. In need of a bone marrow transplant, the search began for Chloe’s birth father. Assuming her father is Nancy’s rapist, Frederick Sykes, Chloe sets out to find him with Brady. However, Philip arranged to have BradyChloe, Philip and Brady arrested in an effort to destroy any relationship the two may have or develop. Instead, it had the opposite effect – as these schemes so often do – and drove them closer as Chloe discovered the kind of man Philip actually was.

Brady and Chloe grew closer as they continued the search. Once they finally found Frederick, they discovered he could not be her father, as he’d had a vasectomy many years before. Meanwhile, back in Salem, Craig began to do some investigating of his own, and shocked Nancy with the news that he was actually Chloe’s father. It turned out the child Nancy was carrying was a perfect match for Chloe, so she was able to receive the transplant she so desperately required.

Once Chloe recovered, she had the chance to sing for Cecilia Marin, who offered her an opportunity she couldn’t turn down. Although deeply in love with Brady, she couldn’t pass up the chance to give her dreams of singing a try and thus left Salem. She returned in December 2003 at Victor’s insistence, but the opportunity of a lifetime came up and she couldn’t pass it up. She left Brady again.

Nancy with Injured Chloe

A few months later, on her way back to Salem (where Brady was building an opera house with her), Chloe was in a car accident which left her horribly scarred. Afraid that Brady wouldn’t love her in her condition – which I always took issue with, but I won’t go into that rant – she had her mother tell the world that she was dead. Of course, Nicole learned that Chloe was still alive and, in fear of losing Brady, took the opportunity to expose her to a flesh-eating virus which would only enhance the scar and shatter Chloe’s hopes of it ever healing.

Chloe at her funeral

Chloe attended her own funeral, but hid in the back. A CD of Chloe’s singing was put on, but when the vocals didn’t work, she sang live, in fear someone would come back and discover her. Brady knew it wasn’t a recording but dismissed it as just being an emotional day. Later, Chloe had radical surgery and was revealed to Brady to still be alive, even before they knew if it had worked. He proposed and she accepted, and on their wedding day, she took off her bandages to reveal a perfect face, no longer marred by scars. They got married and left Salem.Honeymoon

In November 2007, Chloe returned to town without Brady, who was presumed to be missing. She was a prime suspect in his disappearance, which caused many people in Salem to take a sudden disliking to her. People who had once really liked her suddenly treated her like she was the plague and had done horrible things. Even when Brady was revealed to be alive and in rehab, she got the blame for his using.

Chloe and Nicole

It was in this period of being rejected by most of Salem that Chloe found herself befriending an old enemy – Nicole Walker – after an incredible food fight in the Brady Pub (one of my all-time favorite scenes in Days history). After briefly reuniting with Philip, she began dating Lucas Horton. The two women were bonded together by their fear of Sami taking away their man – Lucas from Chloe and EJ fromNicole. It was through Chloe that Nicole learned that Sami was also pregnant with EJ’s child – information which was later used to kidnap the baby and replace her with another. Despite their closeness, Chloe remained unaware of Nicole’s plot. She was later, however, the only one from Salem allowed to visit her in prison.

Lucas and Chloe

Chloe became engaged to Lucas and acted as a stepmother to his daughter, Allie. However, when she served as a donor for Lucas’ mother, Kate, she foundherself drawn to her doctor, Daniel Jonas. Thus began the storyline known as Danloe, as they shared a forbidden romance. Too bad no one in Salem knows how to be discrete. Their affair was soon discovered by others, particularly by Maggie Horton – Lucas’ aunt, as well as his AA sponsor. Out of guilt, Chloe left Lucas, who then drank himself senseless. After being involved in an accident, he was left in the hospital, barely clinging to life. Out of desperation, Chloe vowed that she would stay with Lucas and remain faithful for the rest of their life together, so long as he made it through, which, of course, he did.

Daniel Carrying Chloe

On a soap, though, no one ever sticks their vows and despite being married to Lucas, Chloe was unable to keep her distance from Daniel. Kate eventually discovered the affair and, being the ever protective mother, decided to hatch a plan to kill her daughter-in-law by poisoning the food she was supposed to eat for the talk show they were hosting. However, instead of actually killing her, the poison sent Chloe into a coma. The truth about the affair came out and Daniel was the one suspected of attempted murder. No one believe him when he explained that it was really Kate.

Chloe in a comaBeing her husband, Lucas was her next of kin and thus in charge of her fate – should he take her off life support, or keep her alive and hope she’d eventually wake up? Great timing kicked in and he found out about her affair. Although he didn’t want to kill her, it didn’t make the decision any more difficult to take her off of life support. Daniel made his way out of jail on bail, but was not allowed anywhere near Chloe. He managed to stall (and failed many times at getting Kate to admit that she poisoned Chloe in a way that could be used as evidence in a court). Finally convincing Nathan and Melanie that administering more of the poison might be the jolt that would wake her up, the two snuck in to do so. Ultimately, that decision was the one which saved her life. Chloe woke from her coma just before she was taken off life support.

Lucas and Chloe got and annulment and she quickly moved in with Daniel. The two got engagedDaniel and Chloe and it seemed everything was going well for awhile. Then, Chloe discovered that having children may not be possible for her, and she was devastated. She ended up having a hysterical pregnancy. Once again, the great-timing monster jumped in and it was just after this that Daniel discovered he had a daughter with Carly – Melanie.

The insecurity which has plagued her since the beginning of her appearance on Days reared it’s angry head again as she began suspecting Daniel and Carly of having an affair. After a scheme pulled off by Vivian, the insecurity threw Chloe back into the arms of her former flame, Philip Kiriakis – who just happened to be married to Daniel’s daughter. Definitely not the smartest move in Chloe’s history. Of course, as any good soap fan would predict, Chloe became pregnant. Sadly for her, she has no idea yet if it’s Daniel’s baby or Philip’s – and won’t until the results come in on her birthday.Chloe's paternity struggle

Considering the way this show works, I’m tempted to say that the baby will turn out to be Philip’s. Eventually this will all have to come out, breaking up Melanie and Philip as well as Daniel and Chloe. I would bet that Chloe and Philip will end up together – at least for awhile. I also hope this doesn’t severely impact Carly’s relationships, given that she knew about the affair and paternity issue. I do like that Carly and Chloe have become friends lately. My favorite bit was when Chloe suggested that Carly be godmother because she’d be a great role model, and because it would annoy the crap out of Victor.Pregnant Chloe

What I love about Chloe is how much her character has evolved. There was a natural progression as she became more comfortable with herself and became more of an open person. She’s still Chloe's graduationinsecure about herself and her relationships, but at least now she knows how to talk to people without seeming overly judgemental or cold. She’s come out of her shell – even in such simple ways as her wardrobe. Instead of dressing in shapeless black clothes, she’s always in a dress that shows off her figure. But what I like is that although she’s changed a lot, her character still at least mildly resembles how she started off. She isn’t completely confident in her actions and her first instinct is always to hide something or run away from her problems. One aspect I’d like to see her to away with is her inability to remain with just one man, but on a soap, that’s probably too tall an order.

One other thing I love about Chloe is that she’s become a bigger part of the show than she was before. It’s nice to see Nadia getting more screen time than she was previously. She’s such a talented actress and I felt like before, they weren’t making good use of that fact. I wish they would have her sing on the show again, though. Chloe’s an operasinger, and yet, we rarely hear her sing anything anymore. Nadia’s voice is so beautiful, it’s a shame we don’t get to hear it.

Nadia BjorlinI’m excited to see where Chloe’s relationships take her in the future. I can’t wait to see what she’s like as a mother. I really hope they don’t pull a Nicole and have her lose the baby, though. If they keep making it so the women of Salem can’t have babies, the entire next generation will be made up of Sami’s children (since she’s apparently the most fertile woman in Salem). I don’t know yet whether I’m hoping for Philip or Daniel to be the father of her baby. I see it being Philip’s baby, but I could be happy either way. Either way, I’m stoked to see what will happen next for Chloe!

Days of Our Lives Stars Do More Than Act; They Give Back to Charity and Their Fans!

A Look into Two Days Charity Event Fundraisers

On screen Days of our Lives actors, are pretty, usually selfish, rich, a little crazy and very headstrong, however the actors in their real life are, kind, generous, loyal, and give more back to charity and their fans than most realize. When not on screen Days actors anClick to NBC Comcast!nually attend and enjoy events hosted by various charity organizations all around the United States.

Most of these events are held on the weekend are require travel, time, and staying away from home and their families on their days off. Yet recently I am becoming aware of more and more events with the attendance of actors growing in number.

I have yet to meet a medium like daytime that gives so much to their fans and charity all in one package. At these events you have the opportunity to meet, greet, and usually hang out with your favorite soap stars, and all the proceeds go to char ity. ThDays Charity South Carolinae actors are real and raw with their fTaylor Youth Organizationans; the actors enjoy being there and have a great time doing it while giving back great causes.

Recently I had the opportunity to attend the Days into Night charity event in Greenville, SC. This event is hosted and put on by parents of the Greenville region to support Taylors Youth Association. This is an organization that provides money to children who normally would not be able to afford playing in organized sports. Everyone who works the event is a volunteer and does all of  it for free. It is an all weekend event, which calls for full days of work and months of planning and preparation.

In 2007 the Taylors Youth Association organized the first Days into Night event, and in 2010 Click to visit Eric Martsolf on IMDB!are still going strong with the support and loyalty of the Days actors’ attendance and commitment to this fund. This year six Days actors attended the event: Nadia Bjorlin (Chloe), Shawn Christian (Daniel), Eric MarClick to visit Nadia Bjorlin on IMDB!tsolf (Brady), Mark Hapka (Nathan), James Scott (EJ), and Galen Gering (Rafe).

All of the actors flew from LA to Greenville on Friday night, with the exception of Nadia Bjorlin who was stuck at work and took the red eye later that evening. Even after an all-night flight she attended all of the events that took place on Saturday which ended well into the night with a smile on her face and a twinkle in her eye.

These actors display grace, and humility to their fans and all the work that is done in their names.

All of the events are hand-on and involve the fans in all sorts of ways including: question and answer, games, Click to visit Galen Gering on IMDB!skits, and even a 4-hour dance in which the actors actually get on the dance floor and bust moves with all of their fans. Eric Martsolf (Brady), and Shawn Christian (Daniel) are dancing machines and look for any opportunity to involve fans on the dance floor; they make it all so comfortable and surreal all at the same time.

I can only say that Days Charity Events does an outstanding job in their efforts for charity and what is coming up next will certainly be no exception!

Since 2005 the events quadrupled in fan attendance as well as the line-up of Days stars. All of this money is donated directly to the selected charity the events features.  Days Charity Events also features Q&A where fans can ask their most desired questions to their favorite actor.

A meet and greet session takes place in the afternoon where autographs and pictures can be taken and given. Lastly, from 8 until midnight a semi-formal cocktail reception is held where you can meet and mingle with all of the actors in a relaxed comfortable setting. All of this takes place on one day/night. It is an action packed, fun filled event that has a great cause and huge outcome.Click to visit Joe Mascolo on IMDB!

Click to visit Casey Deidrick on IMDB!From my investigation of the numerous foundations and charities these actors support, as well from my attendance of just these two highlighted events I find it very humbling and encouraging that these actors take time out of their lives to not only give to charity and provide much needed support to these causes, but that they respect and care for their fans by attending these events instead of simply writing a check.

Daytime actors seem to be more in-touch with their fans as well as getting out in there and making a difference in the name of charity. These actors genuinely enjoy this experience of fan charity events, and continue to come back and attend more as they arise. These are great people whose purpose is to not just entertain us on TV; they give back.

Click to visit Wally Kurth on IMDB!I have learned that these actors are indeed real people and have open hearts to give all they can to those in need as well as to their loyal fans.

Also, I have only highlighted a mere two of the larger national charity events that Days of Our Lives actors attend, there are many, many local events they attend in name of charity as well. Melissa Reeves to Return to Days!

Melissa Reeves According to TV Guide‘s Michael Logan, Melissa Reeves (Jennifer Horton) will be returning to Days of Our Lives in November of this year! She begins shooting her scenes in September.

Melissa left the show in the summer of 2006 to move to Tennessee with her family. As such, the beloved character of Jennifer Horton left town to take a reporting job with her husband, Jack Deveraux, in London, England. They took along their son, Jack Jr. and their daughter, Abigail, left Salem shortly after. She reprised her role briefly earlier this year for Alice Horton’s funeral.

Reeves has played the role of Jennifer off and on since 1985, when the character appeared as a rebellious teenager. There was only one other actress to play Jennifer as an adult, Stephanie Cameron, who played the character from 1995-1998, when Melissa left the show due to personal reasons. (Two other actresses, Maren Stephenson and Jennifer Peterson, played Jennifer when she was a child.) She is the most well-known actress for the role, having played it from 1985-1995 and again from 2000-2006.Young Jennifer

Personally, I couldn’t be more excited about this development. Jennifer was literally the reason I started watching the show. My parents didn’t allow me to watch soaps as a kid, but taped it on VHS after some shows I watched. She came on-screen and I was captivated. I decided it wouldn’t hurt if I just watched one storyline, so I kept up with Jennifer for nearly six months before finally convincing my mom to let me watch the show as a whole. If not for Melissa’s portrayal of the character, I may not have become a Days fan (which would, frankly, be pretty tragic).

My hope is the next announcement is that they will bring back Matthew Ashford (Jack Deveraux), whose character has been killed off and brought back more times than I can keep track of. Jack and Jennifer have been one of the supercouples of the show for over a decade and share two children. Even if they somehow break up, I would be willing to put money on an eventual return for Jack. That tends to be the trend with those two. One will come back and eventually the other will, as well. Still, I’d like for them to return together.Jack and Jennifer

Although I truly do hope for Jack’s return to Days, there are still several relationships I’d love to see more of between Jen and some of the other Salemites. Even though many of the characters she used to interact with are gone, such as Alice, Steve, and Kayla, I imagine there’s still a lot of people in Salem who will be happy to see her coming home. I believe Jennifer will likely also have a lot of scenes with her Aunt Maggie. They’re both grieving the loss of Alice Horton – which Jennifer can’t be taking well, as she was pretty much raised by Alice. Plus, Lord knows she’ll probably have a thing or two to say about Maggie’s blossoming relationship with Victor Kiriakis. Plus, we’ll probably see her with Bo and Hope, again – and I don’t doubt she’ll be trying to get them back together, if they’re not already.

Carly and Jennifer

My favorite, though, will be the Jennifer/Carly dynamic. The two were best friends all through their time in boarding school and while Carly was on the show in the early 90′s, the two were still close friends. Of course, Jennifer is also close with her cousin, Hope, which could cause her to be stuck in the middle, if the CarBo vs. Bope storyline is still going on. As well, both characters have drastically changed since that time, so it’s hard to say whether they’ll still be friends, or at least, as close of friends as they once were. With such a history between the two of them – especially considering both their pasts with Lawrence – I definitely look forward to seeing them reunited for more than just a couple brief scenes.

Another thought which crossed my mind about Jen and Carly is the war with Vivian Alamain. One of my favorite scenes when Jennifer returned for a few episodes this past spring was when she and Vivian had a confrontation on the pier. Jen holds nearly as much hatred toward Lawrence as Carly Lawrence and Jennifernow does. Whether or not she condones Carly’s methods of dealing with him (aka stabbing and ultimately killing him), I’d say it’s a safe bet that she’s on Carly’s side in that break-up. After all, the majority of her problems with Lawrence were as a result of trying to protect her best friend. It was by posing as Katerina (Carly) that she ended up being raped by Lawrence. I’d love to see her help bring Vivian down! She may look sweet and harmless, but that girl has an edge when she needs it, and I love to see that side come out.

Jennifer’s been through practically everything from losing her husband (and getting him back – several times), to rape, to undercover reporting to giving birth in a cave and even hanging from a cliff while very pregnant. I’m excited to see what the writers have in store for her next!

Whatever storylines result from this, I couldn’t be happier to hear that Melissa Reeves will be back on the show! I probably screamed so loud my neighbors could hear when I found out. I can’t wait to see her back on Days again!
