Saturday June 5, 2010, two fan events were held for Days of Our Lives in Los Angeles, California. For Love Charitable Events<\/a> hosted a Q&A and Meet & Greet at the Glendale Hilton<\/a>. At night, Days Charity Events<\/a> hosted a cocktail party at the Sportsmen’s Lodge<\/a>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

I must say, Saturday will probably go down as one of the best days of\u00a0my life. It was so much fun! I\u2019m still recovering from it!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"Eric<\/a><\/p>\n

The first event I attended was the For Love Q&A with some of the\u00a0actors. Alison Sweeney (Sami Brady), James Scott (EJ DiMera), Arianne\u00a0Zucker (Nicole Walker), Eric Martsolf (Brady Black) and Lindsay\u00a0Hartley (Arianna Hernandez) came out on stage to answer some\u00a0questions. Most of the questions were about EJami and it seemed the\u00a0majority were directed at Ali. They talked about how difficult it is\u00a0to remember their characters backstories sometimes – especially for\u00a0ones such as Ali, who have been on for such a long time. Sometimes the\u00a0writers get something wrong and they\u2019ll fix it if they notice, but\u00a0they usually rely upon the audience to tell them. Eric said he was\u00a0 never told about his character history, so he relied even more on the\u00a0fans to let him know. Ari said the fans usually don\u2019t like her\u00a0character enough to correct her on history. She can say anything and\u00a0they\u2019ll be like, \u201cYeah, what a whore!\u201d She said it\u2019s a good\u00a0thing because it makes it more fun. She\u2019ll make up stuff while\u00a0shooting just because it\u2019s funny and no one will bother correcting\u00a0her. Eric asked Lindsay what she thought about it, but she laughed\u00a0that her character didn\u2019t have a history, so for now it\u2019s whatever\u00a0she wants.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"Arianne<\/a><\/p>\n

I also asked Ali if she knew exactly how many times Sami had been\u00a0married or attempted to get married. She laughed and said twelve, then\u00a0corrected herself and said thirteen. She explained there was a fiasco\u00a0in France and that some of her marriages were invalid because they\u2019d\u00a0never been consummated.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"James<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Mark Hapka showed up late to the Q&A and Ali made him give an\u00a0explanation to all of us. He shrugged and said he had errands to run.\u00a0Shifty, if you ask me. I\u2019m pretty sure that means he was out creating\u00a0a freeze ray. Or, you know, something like that…<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"Mark<\/a><\/p>\n

I had a question to ask Mark, but alas, they started the auction\u00a0portion. I bid on one item, but I didn\u2019t get it. I did buy a poster from one of James Scott\u2019s movies though. Arianne helped auction off an EJami photo, which was rather ironic. The part which amazed me\u00a0most was when they got to the final item – dinner and a limo ride with\u00a0James. Wow. That last comment was not so much about the awesome prize,\u00a0but more about how much a couple of women wanted it. Okay, I didn\u2019t\u00a0even bother to bid on this, because I knew it would go for an insane\u00a0amount of money… Two women were pretty much in a war over it. They\u00a0kept going up and up… Finally someone suggested that they each pay\u00a0$3000 and both go. They agreed to it. So essentially it went for\u00a0$6000. All I could think was that it\u2019s enough to pay for an entire\u00a0semester at university, plus textbooks! It was for an excellent cause,\u00a0though, so I\u2019m glad they were able to raise the money.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"Ari<\/a><\/p>\n

Next up was the Meet and Greet. We were rushed over to Alison as soon\u00a0as we walked in. I think that\u2019s because she could only stay for a\u00a0certain amount of time. I gave her my card and she joked about converting sci-fi fans to soaps. She\u2019s\u00a0so gorgeous in person, by the way. I mean, she\u2019s obviously beautiful\u00a0in the show, but she looks different in person. It\u2019s hard to explain.\u00a0Anyway, it was an absolute pleasure meeting her. I think I was a\u00a0little nervous though, because I couldn\u2019t really think of anything\u00a0too interesting to say. Thankfully I got over that very quickly as the\u00a0day progressed.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"Alison<\/a><\/p>\n

The next person I met was Lindsay Hartley. I joked that I used to\u00a0watch Passions<\/em> when I got home from school, but only ever the last 20\u00a0minutes because I got home at 3:40 PM and I was watching it on the sly\u00a0– since my parents didn\u2019t allow me to watch saps until I was\u00a0thirteen. I also gave her my card and explained about the site. She\u00a0was very nice – well, all of them were – and it was great getting to\u00a0talk to her. Alas, when line-ups are involved, it\u2019s hard to talk for\u00a0more than a couple of minutes.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"Lindsay<\/a><\/p>\n

Next up, was Eric Martsolf. We chatted for a moment and I gave him my\u00a0card. I explained why our name is Wormhole Riders, since that\u2019s not\u00a0really related to daytime dramas. I had to explain that to a lot of\u00a0people. I got an autograph and a photo then moved on to meet Mark Hapka.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"Eric<\/a><\/p>\n

Mark was exactly what I expected. Awesome. He asked my name and I\u00a0told him… He said he wouldn\u2019t make any birth control jokes. It took\u00a0me a minute to realize that\u2019s because Stephanie on the show was lying\u00a0about going off of her birth control pills. I told him I was named\u00a0after her, even though my mom denies it. I also added that\u00a0I didn\u2019t have a chance to ask him during the panel, but I wanted to\u00a0know where Nathan would take Chad on their first date. He laughed and\u00a0thought for a moment before replying, \u201cParis, because it would have\u00a0to be something big, right?\u201d He said he\u2019d have to tell Casey\u00a0(Deidrick, Chad) about that one. I gave him my card and jumped into\u00a0the lineup for James Scott.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"Mark<\/a><\/p>\n

This line took forever. Okay, not literally, but it did take a fair\u00a0amount of time.\u00a0 Thankfully I had some awesome people in line with me\u00a0to chat with.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

James was really cool. He has the best glasses. I’m just sayin’. I\u00a0didn’t talk to him much, except to tell him about WHR, because the\u00a0meet and greet was almost over and I still hadn’t seen Arianne Zucker.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"James<\/a><\/p>\n

So I got in Ari’s line next, obviously, since she was the only one\u00a0left. I have always been a Nicole fan, so I was pretty stoked. She was\u00a0really fun to chat with. When I gave her the picture I wanted her to\u00a0sign, she exclaimed, “Yay! It’s my favorite dress!” She told me her\u00a0friend had lent it to her and she really wanted to wear it again –\u00a0even if that was a fashion faux-pa. I told her that was understandable\u00a0considering how gorgeous the dress is.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

I told her about the site and gave her my card. I also joked that hers\u00a0(well, Nicole’s) was the only case where I’ve ever wanted the\u00a0kidnapper to get away with it. She agreed. I laughed that Sami already\u00a0had 3 kids, and Nicole didn’t even have one! She exclaimed, “That’s\u00a0what I said!”<\/span><\/p>\n

Actually, we talked for so long that I forgot to get a picture until\u00a0my dad reminded me… Oops! I still got one though.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"Arianne<\/a><\/p>\n

So after the meet and greet, I had to get changed for the Days Charity\u00a0Event cocktail party. You probably don’t care, but I just want to say\u00a0I love my dress. It was purple-based and a sort of tie-dye pattern.\u00a0Okay, enough about that.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

My parents made me late for the party, which I was annoyed about, but\u00a0it worked out. The gathering was set in the garden of the Sportsman’s\u00a0Lodge. I almost immediately met up with Carrie, who I’d been chatting\u00a0with during line-ups earlier. We decided to go around together, since\u00a0she had a pen for autographs and I had a camera which was charged for\u00a0photos.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"Carrie<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The first person we went to see was Nadia Bjorlin (Chloe Lane). The “lines” were a\u00a0bit chaotic. If you weren’t aggressive, you’d be standing there\u00a0waiting for s long time. I’m not aggressive. Carrie and I were at the\u00a0front of Nadia’s line for quite awhile, but people kept budging. We\u00a0didn’t mind much, though, because who really minds looking at Nadia?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

So finally she got to us and she apologized for making us wait. I gave\u00a0her my card and all that, like I did with everyone, pretty much. I\u00a0laughed that I pretty much tweetstalk her and she asked my username. I\u00a0told her ValaBlack and she exclaimed that she feels like she knows me\u00a0from my tweets. She said she was sorry she didn’t recognize me because\u00a0she tweets from her blackberry where display pictures are tiny. She also gave me a big hug. The\u00a0three of us chatted for a few minutes while we got pictures and she\u00a0signed our photos. I met her a few years back when she was in Calgary,\u00a0but it was nice seeing her again. Last time I was too nervous to talk,\u00a0since I’d never met an actor before. Thank goodness I’m over that!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"Nadia<\/a><\/p>\n

Next up, we saw Shelley Hennig (Stephanie Johnson). We ended up taking photos for everyone\u00a0and waiting a long time before getting to talk to her. She was very\u00a0busy. We didn’t talk much, but she did say she loved my dress. Of\u00a0course, I also gave her the WHR card and such. I pimped out the site\u00a0a lot, in case you didn’t notice.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"Shelley<\/a><\/p>\n

Alright, so next we went to see Casey Deidrick (Chad Peterson Woods). I’m slightly\u00a0embarrassed, because while we were in line, I tripped on my shoes (I\u2019m almost always in running shoes, so I don\u2019t have good balance) and\u00a0fell into someone. Who was it, you ask? Jay Kenneth Johnson (Philip Kiriakis). Shame. He\u00a0turned around, grinned and said, \u201cYou could’ve just said hi!” At least\u00a0he found it funny…<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Casey was pretty cool. He’s so tall, though! I told him I felt\u00a0incredibly short. He said everyone does.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

I told him about WHR and he replied, “Oh, you guys just started\u00a0following me, didn’t you?” I said yes, but I’ve been following him on\u00a0my personal account for quite awhile. He’s another one I tweetstalk,\u00a0so I apologized for that, but he said he loves that and it’s one of\u00a0the reasons he has Twitter. So that’s good. I feel a lot better about\u00a0my tweetstalking tendencies now.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

I’m also going to clarify: when I say “tweetstalk”, I don’t mean that\u00a0I tweet them like thirty times in a row. I just tweet them whenever I\u00a0think of something interesting or have a response to something they’ve\u00a0posted.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

I also explained to him why we’re called Wormhole Riders because it\u00a0confused him a bit – which I totally get, because wormholes and\u00a0daytime drama have very little to do with one another. Like I said, I had to explain that to several people.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"Casey<\/a><\/p>\n

Molly Burnett (Melanie Layton) was right next to Casey (no surprise there since they\u2019ve been dating for quite awhile), so we went\u00a0right over to her. I’m not going to lie, I’m a pretty big fan of hers.\u00a0She complimented my dress too. At least, I think it was my dress. It\u00a0was hard to hear, so all I caught was, “I love your…”<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

I handed her the picture for her to sign and she asked my name. She\u00a0joked she doesn’t usually like Stephanies and I replied that if it\u00a0helped, she could call me by my Twitter name. She asked what that is,\u00a0so I told her. She stopped, grinned, and exlaimed, “ValaBlack? I\u00a0totally know you!” and gave me a hug. She said she needs a list of all\u00a0her followers at the party so she could find them all. I also gave her my card and everything. She posed for\u00a0pictures with us and signed our stuff.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"Molly<\/a><\/p>\n

When we got in line to see Jay, he pointed at me and said, “You!” When\u00a0we got to the front, I apologized again and he said not to worry. I\u00a0got pictures with him, but they turned out orange because of the\u00a0lighting. As you can see, so did a bunch of my other pictures…<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"Jay<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

We got a bit of a shock when we looked over and saw Justin Hartley\u00a0from Passions<\/em> and Smallville<\/em>. He’d tagged along with his wife, Lindsay\u00a0Hartley. He actually ended up being the one to fix the orange on my\u00a0camera. Apparently he’s used that kind before. Thanks for that,\u00a0Justin! The rest of my pictures were normal coloring, thank goodness!\u00a0I got an autograph for myself and one for my best friend, since she’s\u00a0a fan and couldn’t make it due to summer school. Justin was the only\u00a0one I didn’t give a card to, which I’m choosing to believe is because I was surprised to see him.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"Justin<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Carrie and I decided to see Arianne Zucker again, just because we both\u00a0love her. We talked a moment and took a couple pictures. I got one\u00a0where we both did funny faces, which I completely love. She’s really a\u00a0lot of fun!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Next up, I saw Galen Gering (Rafe Hernandez). I told him I love him on Days<\/em>, but even\u00a0more on Venice<\/em>. He replied that they start shooting soon, which makes\u00a0me happy. He had just arrived, and he had quite a crowd, so we didn’t\u00a0talk long.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Galen<\/a><\/p>\n

Shawn Christian (Daniel Jonas) had also just arrived, so we headed over to meet him.\u00a0That was probably the longest line of the day. He had so many people\u00a0waiting and it was so chaotic. Everyone was jumping in front of us. It\u00a0got rather annoying, but it was worth it.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

When I finally got to talk to Shawn, I mentioned I’d seen him in\u00a0Calgary in 2008, but was too nervous to really say anything. He said\u00a0he hoped I’d at least said hi, which I had. He also added that he\u00a0loves Calgary and there’s so much to do and see. I burst out laughing\u00a0and replied that I’m looking for suggestions. He clarified he had been\u00a0here during the Stampede (a huge city-wide carnival\/parade\/rodeo),\u00a0which makes sense. Otherwise there’s nothing to do, in my opinion.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

I gave him my card and he looked it over before saying, “Wait, are you\u00a0ValaBlack?” I love Shawn, but I don’t tweetstalk him, so I was a bit\u00a0surprised. I nodded and he said, “Well why didn’t you say so?” Then he\u00a0told everyone to introduce themselves by their Twitter name. He\u00a0stated, “Yeah, ValaBlack! We tweet all the time!” I was kind of\u00a0confused and replied, “Uh, you’ve never tweeted me back…” He asked\u00a0if I was sure and I nodded again. He then pulled out his blackberry\u00a0and tweeted me right there! All the other tweeters were jealous and\u00a0started asking him to tweet them… I don’t think he did, though,\u00a0because he didn’t have time.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"Shawn<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

So now I’d pretty much seen everyone, but my night wasn’t over. Molly\u00a0and Casey were doing an auction for a “red carpet” photo with both of\u00a0them. I bid on it, but was soon outbid. I planned on bidding again,\u00a0but I didn’t have that much cash. I thought someone else had gotten\u00a0it, but somehow the amount went down from $500 to $300… I have no\u00a0idea how or why. They were asking if anyone would bid higher. Okay, so I did.\u00a0It was for charity and I love Molly and Casey…<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"Molly<\/a><\/p>\n

Well, somehow while I was talking to Carrie, I won the auction,\u00a0because suddenly they were both pointing at me, saying “Sold for $325!” I went and paid, then met them on the red carpet.\u00a0Before I got there, I could hear Molly calling, “ValaBlack, get your\u00a0butt over here!”<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"I<\/a><\/p>\n

When I got there, I saw a third person and Molly grinned, “You get\u00a0Eric Martsolf for free! Hope you don’t mind!” Obviously, I didn’t\u00a0protest.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

While we waited for the photographer, Molly showed off her fabulous\u00a0shoes and said how much her feet were hurting. Casey laughed that his\u00a0shoes were the most comfortable he’d ever worn. It’s not fair being a\u00a0girl sometimes…<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

We were just posing for the picture when we were joined by Galen\u00a0Gering. He jumped in the photo and essentially I got 4 for the price\u00a0of two. It was pretty awesome!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Once we’d gotten a bunch of photos taken, Galen came over and gave me a hug. Casey did the same and before I knew it, I was sandwiched between everyone in a giant group hug. Molly asked if I had my cell\u00a0phone. I said my dad had it but I could get it. She said no and stole\u00a0Casey’s phone. She took a picture of me with the guys and Casey\u00a0twitpic’d it. Eric joked that these pictures would get him a divorce. I don’t have any photos besides the twitpic yet, but I’ll post them when I do.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"Galen,<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

After this, I went to chat with a couple people for awhile. I was pretty much out of cash, so I didn’t do any\u00a0more auction bidding.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Just as the night was wrapping up, I noticed Molly and Casey were\u00a0getting their photo taken under an arch. I decided to snap a few pics\u00a0because, let’s be honest, they’re one of the most adorable couples\u00a0ever. I wasn’t getting very good shots though, so I ended up just\u00a0chatting with Carrie again nearby.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

We were kind of startled when Molly called us to ask if we wanted\u00a0another picture with them. Of course, we took the opportunity. We all\u00a0talked for a few, along with another woman whose name I sadly never\u00a0learned. Then I sat down next to them and we posed for the picture.\u00a0Carrie did the same after. We talked a bit more, but Molly got a call\u00a0and the party was over anyway, so we left.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

By the way, since Twitter was mentioned so many times, I think I should also add that because of this event, I got tweets from Ali, Shawn, Casey, Nadia and Molly.<\/span><\/p>\n

Anyhow, that was a totally amazing day! Thanks to Days Charity\u00a0Events,\u00a0For Love Charity Events, all the volunteers and the actors who\u00a0appeared. We all appreciate it! Be sure to check out each website and\u00a0read about the charities.<\/span><\/p>\n
