This wonderful series continued this past Sunday June 24, 2012 with the third episode \u201cCompass\u201d reinforcing our previous grade for Falling Skies<\/a>. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

We remain convinced the series deserves a solid \u201cA Plus\u201d for the outstanding production values, great acting, special effects and compelling story arc imparted in the series.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Our post apocalyptic world remains set for our hearty band of Boston Resistance survivors lead by Captain Weaver (Will Patton<\/a>) and Tom Mason (Noah Wyle<\/a>) to continue their journey to freedom for humankind.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"Dreamworks<\/a>Now wheeling their way to Charleston South Carolina, the new capital of the United States, our survivors are, after the arrival of Avery Churchill (Camille Sullivan<\/a>), heading to what they believe will be a refuge to build an effective federation for the dwindling remnants of humanity after billions were killed by the evil alien \u201cOverlords\u201d, their murderous Mech\u2019s, and “Skitter” minions.\"Falling<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Dropping marginally to second place against the revered vampire series \u201cTrue Blood\u201d, in the United States, Falling Skies<\/a> produced 3.807 million live viewers and a slightly lower 1.3 rating in the critical 18 to 49 age group so important to advertisers. Falling Skies is still in its rightful position as the worlds number one original science fiction series!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Young Bloods:<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

As we begin \u201cYoung Bloods\u201d, doubts about Tom Mason\u2019s experience with the “Overlords” begins to fade. With John Pope (Colin Cunningham<\/a>) gone off with Anthony (Mpho Koaho<\/a>) to who knows where, doubts about trusting him dissolve as the Resistance must focus on new and more important tasks. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

This trust will be will be reinforced\u00a0 as the attention of the Freedom Fighters encounter several surprises with near disaster as the ultimate consequence.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"Falling<\/a><\/p>\n

\"Falling<\/a>Despite the ever present Skitters, in this episode we will all experience a heart rending reunion when one of the series main supporting actors is re-united with a family member on the trek to Charleston. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

So as not to spoil this pre-review, we cannot say more at this time. However, one new character in particular, the who is related to someone in the Resistance will come as a bittersweet surprise to the viewers. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

As a reunion of sorts, we feel the fans of the series will enjoy discovering this Sunday when Falling Skies<\/a> returns for the fourth episode of season two \u201cYoung Bloods\u201d.\"Falling<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Who are the \u201cYoung Bloods\u201d? Does this refer to Tom Mason’s children? What is their true significance to the adventure in Falling Skies<\/a>? <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

How will the encounter with the 2nd Mass affect our group of survivors as they proceed to leave the greater Boston area and head south? <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

These are only a few of the questions the audience will need to consider as the series marches forward?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"Falling<\/a><\/p>\n

This episode introduces viewers to a bevy of new characters. One is left to wonder; will we see more of these characters as Falling Skies<\/a> continues in season two? Or will this be a one off episode bridging the story arc on the journey to Charleston? This reviewer believes we will see them again in season two with dire consequences for the \u201cYoung Bloods\u201d!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"Falling<\/a><\/p>\n

\"Falling<\/a>Anne Glass (Moon Bloodgood<\/a>) and her faithful medical assistant Lourdes (Seychelle Gabriel<\/a>) continue their dedicated and tireless service to the Resistance in \u201cYoung Bloods\u201d as Falling Skies<\/a> continues. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

This reviewer enjoys both characters even though we do not see as much of them in this episode as the episode focus shifts to other revelations of importance to furthering the series time line.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

One of the developments I find disappointing (for the time being) is that John Pope is no longer with \u201cBerserkers\u201d group as he and Anthony left the 2nd Mass in the previous episode \u201cCompass\u201d. \u00a0\"Falling<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

All indications are that John Pope will return in the future, but the questions we need to think about are will John Pope kill Anthony during their hiatus? Or will Mpho Koaho<\/a> also return in future episodes of Falling Skies as Anthony?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Offsetting the absence of John and Anthony are the faithful members of the Berserkers including the \u201cTector\u201d character (Ryan Robbins<\/a>), Dai (Peter Shinkoda<\/a>) and another new favorite, \u201cCrazy Lee\u201d (Luciana Carro<\/a>). We will also learn more about “Boon” portrayed by Billy Wickman<\/a>. All of these fine actors will see a lot more screen time in “Young Bloods”.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The opening scenes are quite revealing in this regard in a wonderful sequence with Matt Mason (Maxim Knight<\/a>). Will there be a Skitter BBQ for us and the Resistance to feast on? Do the Skitters lose their heads when they see young Matt? And what is going to become of the relationship between Hal Mason (Drew Roy<\/a>) and his \u201cSkitterized\u201d glowing spine brother Ben (Connor Jessup<\/a>)? <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"Falling<\/a><\/p>\n

Will Ben ever confess that he has been influenced with glowing spines on his back by the Skitters? All of this leading to Jimmy Boland\u2019s (Dylan Authors<\/a>) death in “Compass” as he is accused of by so many in the group? Will Ben learn to control this as a power to track down and eliminate more of the aliens? Or will Ben become yet another minion? For these answers you must tune in tonight for Falling Skies<\/a>!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

New featured guest stars in \u201cYoung Bloods\u201d include Hector Bucio Jr.<\/a>, Laci J. Mailey<\/a>, Billy Wickman<\/a>, Evan Bird<\/a>, Brad Kelly<\/a>, and Connor Levins<\/a>. We cannot say more about these fine actors at this time to avoid revealing their importance to the episode or spoiling your experience. However, each deliver solid performances that make “Young Bloods” most enjoyable!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"Falling<\/a>Segueing back to our beloved Captain Weaver, he will be the recipient of a gift of a human nature in \u201cYoung Bloods\u201d. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

To find out how this becomes manifest, and witness the poignant sequences yourself, we suggest you keep watching Falling Skies for the exciting answers revealed in this evenings episode!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

As we stated previously, Falling Skies<\/a> is beautifully presented with the continued outstanding cinematography and cool special effects in \u201cYoung Bloods\u201d that will undoubtedly delight the viewers this week and beyond.\"Falling<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Over and above the fantastic opening sequences in \u201cYoung Bloods\u201d, this reviewer enjoyed many other favorite moments made possible in the episode by creators and producers Noah Wyle<\/a>, Mark Verheiden<\/a>, Bryan Oh<\/a>, Greg Beeman<\/a>, Grace Gilroy<\/a>, Bradley Thompson<\/a>, David Weddle<\/a>, Robert Rodat<\/a>, Remi Aubuchon<\/a>, Darryl Frank<\/a>, Justin Falvey<\/a>, Scott Schofield<\/a>, and Steven Spielberg<\/a>. This outstanding episode was written by talented Heather V. Regnier<\/a> and directed by gifted Miguel Sapochink<\/a>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

These included set locations in and around Vancouver British Columbia<\/a> that science fiction fans should easily recognize. Finding an ethnic grocery store filled with goodies to help feed the Resistance is no spoiler because the freedom fighters have to eat.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"Falling<\/a><\/p>\n

More fun occurs in a memorable scene that earns Tom Mason much praise and a well deserved smooch from Anne Glass as their romance continues to blossom. An exciting, but unexpected countdown sequence occurs that will surely to raise your pulse and your blood pressure. Another scene is somewhat reminiscent of Star Trek the original series in the episode called \u201cMiri\u201d<\/a> (1966).<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"Falling<\/a>More Falling Skies<\/a> greatness materializes before our eyes with a fun musical sequence that all fans should enjoy, especially the lyrics. Two Freedom Fighters are assigned to the \u201csanitation crew\u201d well deserving of this not so glamorous and likely odorous task for their reckless actions.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

A tender group scene occurs where we observe Maggie (Sarah Sanguin Carter<\/a>) smiling as her nightmarish past rape fades since her nemesis John Pope is not currently with the Resistance. A prophetic quote by Confederate General Robert E. Lee<\/a> on the horrors of war is in this sequence. \u00a0Some may miss this entirely unless they pay close attention to the scene.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"Falling<\/a><\/p>\n

Not to be missed are tenders moments love between Jamil (Brandon Jay McLaren<\/a>) and Lourdes, Peanut<\/span><\/span>\"Falling<\/a><\/span><\/span> Butter and Jelly sandwiches, more of a variation favorite sport of the Resistance, new names for the \u201cSkitters\u201d which reminded me of the Spanish side of my family. Even the Mech\u2019s get a new moniker too!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Lastly, as the episode winds down, a horrifying sequence takes place that will remind many of a similar set of scenes from Stargate SG-1<\/a>. These are gloriously played out in torturous, seemingly slow motion like effect, providing yet more answers to the questions fans seek about Falling Skies<\/a>! <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

When you witness these fantastic sequences we know that you will go absolutely wild in absolute glee!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"Falling<\/a><\/p>\n

As we have mentioned previously, like any great series, the music score by Noah Sorota<\/a> makes the episode literally flow from scene to scene. Naturally new questions will be raised enhancing \u201cThe Single Effect\u201d for the next episode \u201cLove and Other Acts of Courage\u201d.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
