It has been called one of the most off-beat festivals in Europe by Variety Magazine and dubbed as the European\/German version of Sundance by several sources. The Hollywood Reporter reports, &#8220;&#8230;Oldenburg proves that, justifying its reputation as Germany&#8217;s premiere indie fest by putting innovative filmmaking ahead of box-office glamour, while still filtering out the dregs of the low-budget scene.&#8221;<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 13pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Calibri';\">I was one of the fortunate people to have seen this film in Dallas. The sound mix had been ready the Friday previous to the Dallas International Film Festival premiere, the film itself was ready on Wednesday, they flew in on Thursday and the film was shown on Friday night, April 16, 2010.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 13pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Calibri';\">Without giving too much of the story away, it is a dark tale about human trafficking. Channeling Charles Bronson, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm0001617\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lou Diamond Phillips<\/a> nails the character David, the movie&#8217;s antihero. He is joined by the talents of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm0005535\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Estella Warren<\/a> (<em>Planet of the Apes, Law and Order<\/em>) and Deborah Kara Unger who give the film its warmth and chill respectively. Transparency (a.k.a. Galvanized by real video footage about human trafficking, Raul made sure to include some of disturbing, resonating comments into the script. Later he signed on to become the director. The research became another source of inspiration that gave the film an element of authenticity. Originally it was planned to have the women just speak with Serbian or Russian accents; however, when <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 13pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Calibri';\"><a title=\"Lou Diamond Phillips in Takedown aka Transparency\" href=\"http:\/\/www.americanworldpictures.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-1100\" title=\"Lou Diamond Phillips in Takedown aka Transparency\" src=\"http:\/\/wormholeriders.net\/MovieM\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/NVE00004.jpg\" alt=\"Lou Diamond Phillips in Takedown aka Transparency\" width=\"239\" height=\"158\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wormholeriders.net\/mm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/NVE00004.jpg 427w, https:\/\/wormholeriders.net\/mm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/NVE00004-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/wormholeriders.net\/mm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/NVE00004-150x100.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 239px) 100vw, 239px\" \/><\/a><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 13pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Calibri';\">women during the audition process spoke in their native Serbian or Russian language, the script suddenly became alive.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 13pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Calibri';\">Lou had been involved with Matt on a previous Hallmark Channel film called &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt1335977\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Angel and the Bad Man.<\/a>&#8221; Matt came up to Lou on set during that time and told him he was a producer. Lou was thinking, &#8220;Yeah, yeah, good for you; so is everyone else in Hollywoo<\/span><\/span><a title=\"A tender moment in Takedown aka Transparency\" href=\"http:\/\/www.americanworldpictures.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-1101\" title=\"A tender moment in Takedown aka Transparency\" src=\"http:\/\/wormholeriders.net\/MovieM\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/NVE00005.jpg\" alt=\"A tender moment in Takedown aka Transparency\" width=\"244\" height=\"167\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wormholeriders.net\/mm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/NVE00005.jpg 409w, https:\/\/wormholeriders.net\/mm\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/NVE00005-300x206.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 244px) 100vw, 244px\" \/><\/a><span style=\"font-size: 13pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Calibri';\">d.&#8221; A year later, Matt pitched his film idea, and after reading 5 pages, Lou was hooked, feeling like it had a mixture of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0071402\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">&#8220;Death Wish&#8221;<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0075314\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">&#8220;Taxi Driver&#8221;<\/a> with a retro-70&#8217;s vibe about it.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 13pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Calibri';\">Shot in Vancouver, British Columbia in a mere 13 days, the film tapped into the wealth of talent from the region. Not only did the cast list read like a Stargate reunion (including <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm0669041\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Aaron Pearl<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm0189202\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kendall Cross<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm0465959\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Michael Kopsa<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm0470397\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Vitaly Kravchenko<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm1069611\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Emma Lahana<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm0907896\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jona<\/a><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"font-size: 13pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Calibri';\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm0907896\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">than Walker<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm0303442\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Anna Galvin<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm0006820\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Aleks Panuovic<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm1026161\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dan Payne,<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm2646478\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bruce Crawford<\/a>), Leo Award winner <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm0089885\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Michael C.
