Supernatural season seven episode five \u201cShut Up, Dr. Phil\u201d, airs on Friday October 21, 2011 9 PM E\/P.\u00a0 Per The CW<\/a>, here is the episode synopsis. \"CW<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

“Sam (Jared Padalecki<\/a>) and Dean (Jensen Ackles<\/a>) meet Maggie Stark (guest star Charisma Carpenter<\/a>), a witch who has unleashed her wrath on a small town, resulting in numerous deaths.\u00a0 Sam and Dean track down her husband, Donald (guest star James Marsters<\/a>), to see if he can help.\u00a0 Donald tells the brothers that Maggie is mad at him for having an affair and is taking it out on the townspeople.\u00a0 Phil Sgriccia<\/a> directed the episode written by Brad Buckner<\/a> & Eugenie Ross-Leming<\/a>.<\/em>” <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ok Supernatural<\/a> fans we are stepping into episode 7.04, \u201cDefending Your Life\u201d, leaving the Leviathans behind for now.\u00a0 We start out in Dearborn, Michigan with a \u201cChristine-like\u201d <\/em>black car.\u00a0 It is chasing a man down, through alleys and jumping sidewalks. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"Supernatural<\/a>
\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

This car wants this man DRT (dead right there).\u00a0 The man makes it to his apartment building and into his apartment.\u00a0 Phew, he is safe.\u00a0 Um\u2026nuh uh uh, NOT!!!\u00a0 The car is in his apartment.\u00a0 What the heck are we dealing with?\u00a0 The car\u2019s engine is revving, the man screams and\u2026SPLAT<\/strong>!\u00a0 Bye bye man.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/a>\"Supernatural<\/a><\/p>\n

Sam and Dean arrive the next day to investigate the case.\u00a0 Sam stops before going in the building to thank Dean for letting Amy Pond (Jewel Staite<\/a>) go even though he did not want to.\u00a0 You can see it in Dean\u2019s face, he feels awful about not telling Sam that he killed her.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"Supernatural<\/a> <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ooooh yay the EMF (Electromagnetic Field) detector is back.\u00a0 We have not seen that in some time.\u00a0 Bringing back the basics.\u00a0 I like it.\u00a0 The meter is picking up something.\u00a0 Is it some kind of ghost?\u00a0 Sam finds some red dirt on the floor of the apartment.\u00a0 The man killed was Matthew Hammond (Angelo Renai<\/a>).\u00a0 Sam notices monthly charges to a florist and Dean finds a token from AA meetings that says \u201c10 Years Sober\u201d.\u00a0 Dean is not going to the AA meeting to ask questions because AA gives him \u201cthe jeebes\u201d.<\/em> So Dean will go to the florist to explore and Sam will go to the AA meeting to inquire about Matthew Hammond.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"Supernatural<\/a>
\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Deans talks to the florist (Jenn Griffin<\/a>) about Matthew Hammond.\u00a0 He tells her that Matthew is dead and she said that explained everything.\u00a0 She said he came in a few days prior and paid three years in advance to keep a monthly delivery going.\u00a0 That is not odd at all.\u00a0 Dean asks where the flowers were being delivered.\u00a0 The flowers were going to an Elizabeth Duren.\u00a0 You know he got the address and where do you think it was?\u00a0 Elizabeth Duren is dead and the flowers were being delivered to the 10 year old\u2019s grave.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"Supernatural<\/a>
\n<\/span>While Dean spoke with the florist, Sam was speaking to Matthew Hammond\u2019s AA sponsor.\u00a0 She referred to Matt as a tortured soul, but said he did not talk much.\u00a0 She said that he had a rough week and almost fell off the wagon.\u00a0 She said he called her from \u201cNeil\u2019s Tavern\u201d saying he was about to drink and she showed up to talk him down.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"Supernatural<\/a>
\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

After a little bit of research, the brother\u2019s find that 10 years ago, Matthew Hammond backed out of his driveway and did not see Elizabeth on her bike.\u00a0 He was not charged and it was ruled an accident.\u00a0 We see the connection to the incident happening 10 years ago and he has now been sober for 10 years.\u00a0 The Winchester\u2019s believe that they must be dealing with the vengeful spirit of Elizabeth Duren and they are going to put her to rest by burning her bones.\u00a0 Dean seems to be a little less interested in dealing with the case than Sam.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"Supernatural<\/a>
\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The next scene opens with being chased by a dog.\u00a0 It looked like a German Shepherd to me.\u00a0 The man is scared to death.\u00a0 He makes it into a restaurant.\u00a0 Phew, he is safe.\u00a0 Um\u2026nuh uh uh, NOT!!!\u00a0 He ran into the men\u2019s bathroom and called 911 only to hear not his best friend panting right next to him. \u00a0The dog is snarling, the man screams and\u2026CRUNCH<\/strong>!\u00a0 Bye Bye dude.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"Supernatural<\/a><\/p>\n

Dean and Sam are just getting back to their motel room, tired as can be and always with coffee in their hands.\u00a0 Dean has appeared very exhausted in this episode, as though all he wants to do is rest and he cannot.\u00a0 Sam is telling Dean about the animal attack on Christopher Fisher.\u00a0 No patrons saw anything and the 911 operator did not hear anything either.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Further analysis revealed Christopher Fisher had gotten in trouble five years prior for running a dog fighting operation.\u00a0 Dean questions if dogs even have ghosts because they have never heard of such a thing.\u00a0 They also see that even after serving his sentence at an animal shelter, he continued and raised a lot of money for the cause.\u00a0 Sam says, \u201cPeople change.\u201d Dean responds with, \u201cTell that to Ghost Dog!\u201d\u00a0 Dean is less than enthused when Sam says, \u201cGet suited up.\u00a0 Let\u2019s go check out the body.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"Supernatural<\/a>
\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

At the coroner\u2019s office Sam finds red dirt under the animal attack victim\u2019s nails.\u00a0 Both of the cases involve some kind of red dirt.\u00a0 Hmmmm???\u00a0 Sam finds out there is local apple farm that uses red dirt because it helps them grow.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

While traveling to the apple farm to check out hundreds of acres of this red dirt a man jumps out in the middle of the road.\u00a0 Dean slams on the brakes, just barely avoiding hitting him.\u00a0 What do you know, perfect time for the camera to zoom in on the Impala\u2019s tag, Ohio CNK80Q3. \u00a0The man had his hands up like he was gesturing for them to stop and help him.\u00a0 The man looks traumatized.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"Supernatural<\/a>
\n<\/span>Dean and Sam take him back to their room.\u00a0 He is reluctant to tell them what is going on because they will not believe him.\u00a0 He says he was just put on trial and sentenced to death.\u00a0 They asked what he had done.\u00a0 He said he held up a liquor store and killed the owner and his wife.\u00a0 He said he was young when it happened.\u00a0 It took place in 1981 and he was just paroled from serving 30 years in prison for the crime.\u00a0 Dean and Sam are confused.\u00a0 He said he was in a bar one minute, was jumped and was in a courtroom the next.\u00a0 It was not a regular courtroom, but there was a judge.\u00a0 It was in a barn at the apple farm.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Sam asks about the bar the man was at and the man said it was called, \u201cNeil\u2019s Tavern\u201d.\u00a0 That was the same place Matthew Hammond was when he called his sponsor.\u00a0 Dean and Sam are wondering if the animal attack victim went there, as well.\u00a0 The man asks they who they are because they look like they believe him.\u00a0 Sam says, \u201cWe kinda specialize in crazy.\u201d\u00a0 They ask what the man remembers about the courtroom, the judge, etc.\u00a0 He does not know the judges name, but remembers there were a lot of symbols everywhere.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Sam is going to check out the farm and Dean will check out\u2026you guessed it, the bar.\u00a0 Something is definitely up with Dean.\u00a0 He does not want to do any of this.\u00a0 Before Sam leaves, he tells the man to show him where the barn is.\u00a0 The man, flat out, refuses to go back.\u00a0 He says the people he killed are out there.\u00a0 He is panic-stricken.\u00a0 Sam lets him know that he is safer with him than staying alone, but he will not go.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Sam sits him in a chair and pours a circle of salt around him (ghosts\/demons cannot cross salt lines) and tells him to stay put.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"Supernatural<\/a><\/p>\n

Dean is at Neil\u2019s Tavern and flirts a little with the blonde haired bartender.\u00a0 He actually wants to ask her questions about the victims, but she says she has not been there all week.\u00a0 She asks what is on his mind.\u00a0 He asks her, \u201cYou ever do something behind someone\u2019s back because you had to?\u201d\u00a0 He is feeling so guilty about not telling Sam about Amy.\u00a0 The bartender flirts back a little and lets him know what time she gets off work.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Sam finds the barn and red dirt.\u00a0 He had contacted Bobby (Jim Beaver<\/a>), earlier about the symbols and Bobby is now calling him back with intel.\u00a0 What they are dealing with is an Egyptian god named Osiris (Faran Tahir<\/a>)who plays judge, jury and executioner if he finds you.\u00a0 He pops up in a location, does his thing for a little while, and then leaves.\u00a0 Lore says he can see straight into the human heart.\u00a0 He weighs guilt\u2026if he finds any at all you are sentenced to death.\u00a0 Bobby tells Sam that he and Dean have to leave right away because he hones in on people that feel guilty and that could be either of them.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Dean is somewhat tipsy, thinking he is about to get him some from the bartender.\u00a0 He walks outside of the bar giving himself a pep talk and reminding himself that he is Dean Winchester and this is what he does.\u00a0 His phone rings and he is about to answer Sam\u2019s call.\u00a0 He barely gets the phone flipped open when he gets yanked before he can speak.\u00a0 Only a shadow shows us he was grabbed and his phone was left lying open on the ground.\u00a0 Dun Dun Dun\u2026<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The bartender finds the phone outside and calls the last number that called and it was Sam.\u00a0 He answers using Dean\u2019s name and she asks if the phone was Dean\u2019s.\u00a0 She tells Sam that Dean was supposed to meet her outside.\u00a0 Sam heads right to her.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The man left sitting on the chair with the circle of salt notices the lights start flickering.\u00a0 He knows something is coming and he is noticeably horrified, as anyone would be.\u00a0 His foot pushes the salt and opens the circle.\u00a0 He runs out of the room and sees the ghosts of the couple he killed and pleads for his life and apologizes.\u00a0 The ghost of the liquor store owner says, \u201cYou did it to us\u201d, and shoots the man.\u00a0 The ghosts just disappear.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"Supernatural<\/a><\/p>\n

Sam meets the bartender and asks where exactly she found the phone.\u00a0 Low and behold there is the same red dirt on the ground.\u00a0 Sam goes back to the barn at the apple farm looking for Dean.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Dean is chained to a chair.\u00a0 The Egyptian god, Osiris is in the barn with Dean.\u00a0 He let Dean know he heard the guilt in him when he was talking at the bar.\u00a0 Osiris knows Sam is lurking and calls him out.\u00a0 Osiris is putting Dean on trial about his guilt and tells Sam that it does not concern him and he needs to leave.\u00a0 Sam immediately says that Dean has the right to counsel and wants to step in as such.\u00a0 Osiris agrees to allow it.\u00a0 Osiris can call any witnesses he wants to prove his case. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"Supernatural<\/a>
\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

He calls Jo (Alona Tal<\/a>) to the stand.\u00a0 She died when she, her mother Ellen, Dean, and Sam went after Lucifer the first time.\u00a0 Osiris is trying to get Jo to admit she had romantic feelings for Dean and that is why she followed him on some cases.\u00a0 Sam cross-examines and asks if she started hunting to impress a guy or because she wanted to be like her father, who was a hunter.\u00a0 She idolized her father.\u00a0 She says it was because of her father and is about to say something to Dean when Osiris makes her disappear.\u00a0 Obviously, he did not like what she was about to say.\u00a0 Crooked dang judge!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Osiris calls Sam to the stand.\u00a0 He brings up how Sam was going to be a lawyer and marry Jess until Dean cam and pulled him back into hunting.\u00a0 He wants Sam to say that he blames Dean for everything.\u00a0 He does not do that.\u00a0 Osiris explains that it is not about convincing him that someone is innocent.\u00a0 He does not decide Dean\u2019s guilt, but weighs the guilt that is already there.\u00a0 The determining factor is how Dean feels deep down.\u00a0 If Dean believes he is innocent, he will be found innocent, but if he feels guilty about anything, then he will be sentenced to death.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"Supernatural<\/a><\/p>\n

Sam calls Dean to the stand.\u00a0 He asks Dean if he knew that Jess would die when he came for Sam.\u00a0 Of course Dean did not know, he is not psychic.\u00a0 He had no idea.\u00a0 Sam asks about Jo\u2019s death.\u00a0 He asks Dean if he feels guilty or is he just sad that she is gone.\u00a0 Sam asks, \u201cThen is your heart heavy with guilt or just plain heavy and none of this guys business?\u201d\u00a0 Dean says, \u201cWhat you said\u2026the second thing.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Osiris asks, \u201cDean, do you want me to call my last witness?\u201d\u00a0 Dean has flashbacks of killing Amy and of the conversation he and Sam had where Sam thanked him for doing the right thing by letting her go.\u00a0 Sam is wondering what Osiris is talking about.\u00a0 Dean just tells Osiris to sentence him and be done.\u00a0 Sam is a bit thrown off.\u00a0 Osiris finds Dean guilty in his heart and sentences him to die.\u00a0 Dean must handle business quickly.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"Supernatural<\/a><\/p>\n

The brothers find the man they left in the room was killed.\u00a0 They are trying to figure out how to save Dean.\u00a0 Bobby calls and says that a temporary (centuries long) solution is to stab Osiris with a ram\u2019s horn.\u00a0 Where do you find a ram\u2019s horn in Dearborn, Michigan?\u00a0 Sam finds that Jewish people blow through a ram\u2019s horn one time per year.\u00a0 Sam figures, at this time of night, he can steal\/borrow one from a Synagogue.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Dean is in their motel room and places himself in the middle of a salt circle.\u00a0 He knows that it will be Jo that kills him since that was a witness called that Dean does feel bad about.\u00a0 He tells her she can come out and she does.\u00a0 She does not want to kill Dean, but Osiris is forcing her into a \u201ctwisted eye for an eye\u201d<\/em>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"Supernatural<\/a><\/p>\n

Jo and Dean have a heart to heart.\u00a0 He admits to not wanting to hunt alone and that is why he did get Sam and also allowed her to be there during some cases.\u00a0 He tells Jo she deserved better.\u00a0 Jo tells Dean that he carries all kinds of crap he does not have to.\u00a0 Jo says, \u201cDean it\u2019s time.\u201d\u00a0 She flashes to the stove and turns on the gas to all of the burners.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In the meantime, Osiris is working on his next victim. Jo looks down at the salt circle and tells Dean that she used to hunt ghosts and she knows the tricks.\u00a0 She freezes the window, opens it and a gust of wind blows some of the salt, opening the circle.\u00a0 She reaches into Dean\u2019s shirt and pulls out a lighter.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"Supernatural<\/a><\/p>\n

Sam stabs Osiris from the back with the ram\u2019s horn and kills or temporarily stops him.\u00a0 Newest victim saved, but what about Dean? Jo caresses Dean\u2019s face and the lighter drops from her hand to the floor.\u00a0 Jo just vanishes.\u00a0 Dean is alive to fight another day.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

We, of course, have the guys by the Impala having some \u201cHunter\u2019s Helper\u201d <\/em>(beer\/alcoholic beverage for those that do not know) and are discussing what happened.\u00a0 Sam asks Dean whom Osiris was referring to as the final witness.\u00a0 Dean says that it could be anyone.\u00a0 Dean gets why Osiris put him on trial, but was curious why he skipped over Sam.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"Supernatural<\/a><\/p>\n

Sam says he does not feel guilty anymore.\u00a0 He does not feel like the slate is wiped clean, but knows that he has done so much and has felt guilty in the past.\u00a0 He has paid a lot of dues and even been to Hell, literally.\u00a0 For the first time in a long time he feels good.\u00a0 They drive off and half way zoom in on the Impala\u2019s tag, Ohio CNK80Q3, making that one and a half times during the episode.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Could you imagine being put on trial for guilt in your heart?\u00a0 I do not know anyone that has no guilt or regrets about something.\u00a0 I think we would be in a very empty world. We are still left with a lie between the brothers.\u00a0 When will they be completely straight with one another?\u00a0 What will Sam do when he finds out the truth about Amy?\u00a0 When will we see the Leviathans again?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
