Welcome back Comic-Con, Profiles in History and Back to the Future fans!
Guess what I found on the con floor at Comic-Con this year? A freaking TIME MACHINE!
Well to be precise, the Back To The Future Delorean time machine from the trilogy series of movies. Doc Brown’s device is in pristine condition as you can see below and is in for a special “future” of its own!
That’s right! One of the real DeLoreans from the Back to the Future franchise was present at the con thanks to Profiles in History (they are the team behind the Syfy show Hollywood Treasure) and Team Fox benefitting The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
Seven cars were used for the three movies, but now only three of the DeLoreans still exist and one of them was right in front of me at Comic-Con. COOL! You could even sit in the car and have your picture taken for a $20 donation to The Michael J. Fox Foundation.
I get to sit in a time machine AND I’m giving to a good cause? DOUBLE COOL!
GREAT SCOTT! I saw the freaking flux capacitor and the console where you type in the day and year you want to go. It was FRAKING unbelievable. If only I had some plutonium handy…
There were also props from all three of the Back to the Future movies. It was SO neat to see them. I watched those movies over and over again when I was a kid.
Some of the stars of Hollywood Treasure were present at the Profiles in History booth too. I got a chance to speak to Joe Maddalena (he really is one of the nicest and hardest working guys ever), Brian Chanes (he’s so charming), and Jon Mankuta (one of the most charismatic and funny guys I know) while checking out the car and other props.
They had lots to say about the wonderful foundation that the money from the DeLorean photos was going to. The Michael J. Fox Foundation is dedicated to identifying a cure for Parkinson’s disease and for improving the lives of those suffering from the disease today. For more information on this foundation, please visit the Team Fox website. Thank you.
If you missed seeing the car at Comic-Con and you’re in the San Diego area, you can catch it at the San Diego Air & Space Museum until August 13, 2011. After that, this time machine will be up for sale in an upcoming Profiles in History auction where a portion of the proceeds will go to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.

Okay. Time circuits on. Flux Capacitor… fluxing…Engine running. All right… now… how am I going to get this baby up to 88 MPH while I’m still on the con floor…
