Hey Twilight Fans!
The Creation Entertainment Eclipse Convention is being held at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza in Los Angeles by the FANTASTIC Team over at (of course) Creation Entertainment!
The convention occupies two separate floors. The first floor has registration and the ballroom where the Volturi Vampire Ball was held (there will be a second vampire ball tomorrow night). The second floor had the main theater, vendors’ room, and the photo op room.
Q&As were held in the main theater and onstage first was Tinsel Korey (Emily). Shortly after Tinsel was Kiowa Gordan (Embry Call), Michael Welch, (Mike Newton) and Justin Chon (Eric Yorkie) were scheduled together. Booboo Stewart (Seth Clearwater) was the last guest star for Q&As for the day.
In between the Q&As there was a Twilight Saga Yes/No Trivia Game. Each round started off with 90 contestants. Winners would try their best to win $1750 in gift certificates, the right be in the Friday Night Vampire Court, a professional make-over, a special celebrity surprise and gift packages from Scene It. The winner for he first right was Rachel. She continued into round two, but was beaten out by a lovely fan by the name of Savannah who won two rounds in a row. Since she won two rounds she was given the opportunity to choose someone from the audience to take as guest to the Friday Night Vampire Court and share in the makeover prize, and eventually she chose my roommate, Elizabeth. I was so happy for both of them.
The vendors’ room had booths for companies, such as, Borders, Mattel, Necco, and etcetera. Booboo Stewart and the Hillywood Show cast each had a booth of their own. Displayed in the vendors’ room were props from the New Moon set. The two motorcycles Jacob and Bella worked on and Bella’s red truck still had dirt caked on them. The last of the props to be displayed were the three Volturi Chairs. What’s great about having the Volturi Chairs displayed is getting close enough to see the details in the wood and other fabrics that went into the design.
The Photo Op room was originally set in a smaller room, but was thankfully moved to a more spacious room just down the hall. This weekend’s photographer is the talented and fun guy, Ted. What I love about the photo ops is how they have music playing in the background as you line up to take pictures with each guest star. It loosens the mood and you can tell people are having a good time. Those who have not experienced photo ops must know the lines move quite quickly. Everyone that works there does their best to have the photos ready and printed within the same day unless photos were taken late on Sunday.
Since there were so many people interested in participating in the Vampire Ball, Creation Entertainment scheduled two separate balls. Friday night was for the Cullen Crest A Gala Volturi Vampire Ball. The ball was a chance for attendees to dress to impress and get down on the dance floor. Special in-person guests were Kiowa Gordon, Tinsel Korey, Justin Chon and Michael Welch, as well as the Hillywood cast. The trivia contest winners joined the Vampire Court and were given the opportunity to dance with one of the guest stars. It was an event I should not have missed.
Shortly after the Vampire Ball was the Karaoke Concert. We had the pleasure of Michael Welch and Kiowa Gordon hosting the event. It was held in the main theater. Earlier in the day people had the opportunity to queue in for karaoke. Michael started off the night with a rock song. I have to say Michael was really working the crowd and sang at least four songs on his own. He gladly sang and danced with any of the fans that asked him to.
There were times he was acting out the lyrics of certain songs and others were he just went all out and danced his little butt off. Kiowa did sing a few solo songs. He even got some of this band Touche to sing along throughout the event. One of the funniest songs Michael and Kiowa sang was Celine Dion’s “My Heart Will Go On” from the movie Titanic. They each asked anyone who knows to song to come up onstage and sing with them. Towards the end there was a bit of a distraction when the fire alarm went off and karaoke was stopped for just a few minutes until the all clear was given. Karaoke went on until 1:30am. I have to say it I was a little sad to see the fun end.
This was just the events for day one. Day two events will include appearances by Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner and many more. Stay tuned for the next daily report!
Prior to the convention was a media blitz by Summit Entertainment after the outstanding premiere. Twilight Eclipse is described by Steven Weintraub aka ColliderFrosty as the “Best of the 3” in the ongoing series.
