After painstaking attention to detail in development, and subsequent to hearing about this exciting new series created by genius Cameron Porsandeh and produced by the fantastic team of Lynda Obst Productions, Ronald D. Moore of Battlestar Galactica, Javier Grillo-Marxuach of LOST, and Brad Turner of Stargate, we are ecstatic to begin analysis on Helix coinciding with the two hour series premiere that begins this Friday January 10 on Syfy in the United States and Showcase in Canada with a very cool two hour epic science fiction premiere!
But before we share some of our theories and hypothesis about this great new science fiction series, we include the first fifteen minutes for you to enjoy before the premiere this Friday courtesy of the folks at Helix on Twitter!
Helix features a superb cast of outstanding veteran actor stars including Billy Campbell, Kyra Zagorsky, Hiroyuki Sanada, Jordan Hayes, Mark Ghanimé, Meegwun Fairbrother, Neil Napier, Luciana Carro, and fabulous guest stars including Jeri Ryan, Catherine Lemieux, Amber Goldfarb, Christian Jadah, Benoit Priest, Ruth Chiang, Vitali Makarov and many more fine actors to be announced over the course of the thirteen episode first season!
In case you cannot ascertain our glee yet, WHR is more than excited to begin our analysis of Helix that centers around a special team of arctic scientists from a company known as “Arctic Bio-Systems” owned by a mysterious firm known as “Ilaria Corporation”!
With a seemingly innocent motto “Stop Existing, Start Living!”, “Ilaria Corporation” is in the middle of investigating a suspected virulent disease outbreak in the arctic environs of our fair planet Earth!
One of the many Helix questions viewers must contemplate is whether this outbreak is an engineered event by “Ilaria Corporation” (similar to the fabled “Doom” game series and movie), or if it was an accident, as the result of an alien invasion, or some other unidentified source vector such as terrorism?!
Airing each Friday on Syfy (10-11 p.m. ET); this fantastic series based on the CDC mission is described by Syfy as follows;
“Helix is an intense thriller about a team of scientists from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) who travel to a high-tech research facility in the Arctic to investigate a possible disease outbreak, only to find themselves pulled into a terrifying life-and-death struggle that may hold the key to mankind’s salvation or total annihilation. However, the lethal threat is just the tip of the iceberg, and as the virus evolves, the chilling truth begins to unravel.
The 13-episode drama is executive produced by Ronald D. Moore (“Battlestar Galactica,” “Outlander”), Steven Maeda (“Lost,” “The X-Files”) who is also showrunner, and Lynda Obst (“Sleepless in Seattle,” “Contact”). Cameron Porsandeh, who wrote the pilot, will serve as a Co-Executive Producer.
Billy Campbell (“The Killing,” “Killing Lincoln”) stars as Dr. Alan Farragut, leader of the Centers for Disease Control outbreak field team called upon to investigate and control a potential “hot zone” at a remote Arctic research facility. Hiroyuki Sanada (“The Wolverine,” “47 Ronin”) also stars as Dr. Hiroshi Hataki, the overseer of the outpost and its mysterious viral research program.
Helix also stars Kyra Zagorsky (“Soldiers of the Apocalypse”) as Dr. Julia Walker, Mark Ghanimé (“Emily Owens, M.D.”) as Major Sergio Balleseros, Jordan Hayes (“House at the End of the Street”) as Dr. Sarah Jordan, Meegwun Fairbrother as Daniel Aerov, Catherine Lemieux (“White House Down”) as Dr. Doreen Boyle and Neil Napier (“Riddick”) as Dr. Peter Farragut.
Helix is produced by Tall Ship Productions, Kaji Productions and Lynda Obst Productions in association with Sony Pictures Television.”
The hauntingly realistic Helix premiere will be shown this Friday on Syfy and Showcase with limited commercial interruptions.
Helix is science based fictional program, however, the series premise is grounded with real life circumstances that human beings face today in the age of terrorism. As such Helix is something that we suggest you definitely do not want to miss!
